🔍 Investor Personal Data Compromised from Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs for Sale on Chinese Hacking Forum
• On March 6, it was identified that over 10,000 investor records obtained from Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs were being sold for $25 on the Chinese Dark Web hacking forum ‘Cabyc.’
• According to the sample data posted by the seller, the information includes investor names, gender, birth year, investment products, phone numbers, and email addresses.
• S2W’s user profiling tool ‘DarkSpider’ revealed that the seller has published other posts selling personal data of Taiwanese citizens including loan applicants and university graduates.
🔍 Global Automotive Group ‘J’s’ Internal Documents Leaked on Dark Web Forum
• On March 10, a post sharing internal documents of global automotive group ‘J’ was identified on the Dark Web hacking forum ‘BreachForums.’
• The seller ‘Rey’ has shared approximately 700 internal documents, including confidential documents, source codes, and personal information such as employee names, emails, and work locations.
• Forum user ‘Rey’ had previously shared internal documents of global automotive group ‘R’ for free on March 7, attributing the data breach to the HellCat Ransomware gang.
✓ The HellCat Ransomware gang had previously compromised German-based IT company ‘O’ in February. According to ‘Rey,’ the ransomware gang exfiltrated the data of group ‘R’, the customer of company ‘O’.
🔍 Taiwanese Electronics Company ‘S’ Targeted in Cyberattack, Attributed to Akira Ransomware Gang
• On March 12, it was identified that Taiwanese electronics company ‘S’ had fallen victim to the Akira ransomware gang.
✓ Company ‘S’ is an IT electronics company founded in 1973 with annual revenue of USD 108M and listed on the Taipei Stock Exchange ‘TPE.’
• The Akira ransomware gang also claimed responsibility for attacks on companies headquartered in Europe and Africa.
• The Akira ransomware gang is believed to have been active since March 2023.
